Malaysia-UK research and innovation bridges competition

Award: Up to £14.4 million

Innovate UK, Research Councils UK (RCUK) and the Malaysia Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) are to invest up to £14.4 million in collaborative research and development projects to stimulate innovation in response to Malaysia's urbanisation challenges.

Virtual and augmented reality

 Virtual and augmented reality

Award: Up to £35000 for 6 businesses

Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) are exciting technologies at an early stage of development. We are looking to provide support to businesses that want to apply these technologies in new and untested areas. Innovate UK is offering up to six businesses a maximum of £35,000 each to encourage innovation around VR/AR across the themes of music, retail, healthcare, education, construction and tactile technology.

Developing regenerative medicines and cell therapies 

Award: Up to £8 million

Investment of up to £8 million in collaborative R&D projects to stimulate the development of regenerative medicines and cell therapies in the UK. The aim of this competition is to address the challenges of developing regenerative medicines and cell therapies as clinical treatments and commercial products.

Award: Up to £10 million

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) is to invest up to £10 million* in a single collaborative R&D project to demonstrate the capability of the Internet of Things (IoT) in a city region. This competition (delivered by Innovate UK on behalf of DCMS) is part of a wider £40 million government investment in IoT announced in March 2015.

*Note funding is only guaranteed for the 2015-16 financial year (ending 31 March 2016) and further funding is subject to decisions in the Government's Comprehensive Spending Review.

Smart is a grant scheme, which offers funding to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to engage in R&D projects in the strategically important areas of science, engineering and technology, from which successful new products, processes and services could emerge.

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) is to invest up to £20 million* in collaborative R&D projects and feasibility studies (delivered by Innovate UK on behalf of BIS) to stimulate developments in autonomous vehicles and connected transport systems.

 Cyber Security Innovation Vouchers - Round 13

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport is funding a special strand of Innovation Vouchers to help UK businesses get expert advice in protecting their business from cyber crime, which could help them to achieve accreditation under the Cyber Essentials scheme.
