Hello! We’d like to welcome you to Innovate UK’s new blog. If you haven’t come across us before Innovate UK exists to fund, support and connect innovative businesses ideas be they from small, medium or large business, academia or from businesses collaborating together. It is an arm’s length body, which, while funded by government, operates in a commercial way under the umbrella of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). Read more about what we do on our website.
In this blog we will share the views of Innovate UK’s technical experts, family organisations and partners. We’ll also invite some of the organisations we’ve funded to share their thoughts. Have a look at the priority areas our experts cover.
What will we cover?
We are going to provide insight and inspiration to anyone involved in innovation. If you’re an innovator, you’ll probably have realised by now that the UK innovation landscape is complex; we’d like this blog to simplify it for you. We hope to do this by drawing attention to the range of opportunities available to help innovators.
People, information and inspiration
This blog will look at three important aspects of the innovation landscape.
We will introduce all the members of the Innovate UK priority areas, so that you can see who to contact.
We have an extended family that contribute to our mission and we’ll use this blog to explain who they are, what they do and how they work with us. These organisations include the Catapult Network, Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN), Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), Horizon2020 plus others.
Occasionally we’ll invite partners and friends, who we work with, to tell you about themselves and how their work fits into the UK innovation landscape.
We want to provide highlights of our funding competitions and events available to you each month. These are all open to the public and we welcome you to apply and attend. At our events, we encourage people to network with other innovators in their sector and look for potential collaborators.
We realise that innovation is challenging and sometimes we all need a bit of inspiration. We’re going to share stories from successful applicants, insight into what makes a good application, opinions from our experts and the impact of our funding on the UK’s innovators.
