We will give impartial advice regarding Horizon 2020 calls, tailored to the needs of each individual business and organisation. The Innovate UK National Contact Points team is part of a wider team of National Contact Points across the UK.
Genevra Kirby – Horizon 2020 National Contact Points Programme Manager
I provide coordination and leadership to the Innovate UK H2020 National Contact Point team, supporting their in-field operations, ensuring communications, planning and delivery between the team and Innovate UK more widely. I joined Innovate UK in 2015. Before joining Innovate UK, I worked at BIS as the UK H2020 National NCP Coordinator and National delegate to the Strategic Programme Committee and other thematic committees.
Stephen Alexander – National Contact Point for Legal and Financial Issues
I provide impartial advice and support on all aspects of the rules and procedures for participation in Horizon 2020 and the previous FP7 programme. This applies to beginners and experienced participants alike, all sectors and all organisation types.
Ian Holmes - National Contact Point for Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry, Marine and Inland Water Research, Bioeconomy
I support the “Societal Challenge Two” area of Horizon 2020. I was a Marine Engineer in the Royal Navy, before studying Engineering & Environmental Studies in the UK and Finland. I have been involved with innovation support and knowledge transfer for over a decade and have managed, written and delivered a number of projects for UK and European funding schemes. I have evaluated bids for UK Agencies and the European Commission.

Louise Mothersole – National Contact Point for Transport
I am the Horizon 2020 UK National Contact Point for Transport. I cover the full range of transport including trains, planes, and automobiles along with ships, trams, buses, freight, intelligent transport systems, infrastructure, autonomous transport systems, urban mobility and the technologies relating to these. I support any UK applicant hoping to take part in European research, development and innovation projects.
Jane Watkins – National Contact Point for Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Fast Track to Innovation Pilot
I am the National Contact point for SMEs and the Fast Track to Innovation Pilot. I have many years experience helping SMEs access European funding. I can provide impartial advice to SMEs on their business strategy and fit with Horizon 2020, particularly the SME instrument to offering proposal screening before submission.
Helen Almey - National Contact Point for Secure Societies
I am responsible for the Secure Societies part of the Horizon 2020 Programme, which covers Disaster Resilience, Fighting Crime and Terrorism, Border Security, Critical Infrastructure Protection and Cyber security. I have spent nearly all my career in this area - as a researcher and Programme Manager working within government, industry and academia so I am well placed to assist applicants in Horizon 2020.
Catherine Holt –National Contact Point for Space
I help look after the interests of the UK space sector in Horizon 2020. I have worked as a contact point for European funding programmes since Framework Programme Four and have first hand experience of participating in European projects as both a partner and in coordinating a Coordination and Support Action.
Ewa Bloch - National Contact Point for Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials
I am the National Contact Point for Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials, as well as parts of the cross-cutting activities related to the Circular economy, Nature-based solutions and Sustainable urban development. Prior to this role, I was a UK National Contact Point for the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP Eco-innovation).

Jerome de Barros – National Contact Point for Health, Wellbeing and Demographic Change
I am the UK Horizon 2020 National Contact Point for Health, Demographic Change & Wellbeing where I help UK applicants make informed decisions about European funding opportunities and schemes. I give technical advice about the calls, results and requirements and discuss partnerships and project ideas. Previously to this role, I was the Project Officer at the Active Assisted Living (AAL) Programme, where I was involved in the reviewing process of co-funded projects, in addition to their evaluation and selection.

Dr Kalyan Sarma – National Contact Point for Nanotechnologies & Advanced Materials
I provide advice and support for UK organisations interested in applying into the Horizon 2020 European programme. My specific area covers Nanotechnologies and Advanced Materials calls. Prior to joining Innovate UK I worked for a Singaporean based technology incubator. Much of my recent experience has been around early stage technology commercialisation and evolution of existing technology to emerging markets.
Georgios Papadakis - National Contact Point for ICT and Future and Emerging Technologies
I am the National Contact Point for Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Future and Emerging Technologies (FET). I help UK organisations understand, access and take benefit from European opportunities, specifically in this area. I have an industrial background of Research and Development in cutting-edge technologies and systems for ICT and Security with associated experience in multi-stakeholder international and innovation-oriented collaborations.
