The 24th ITS World Congress, which moves around the world each year, is a major global event for all things related to the growing intelligent mobility sector – which covers everything from autonomous vehicles to smart cities and intelligent transportation systems.

Boosting the profile of the UK autonomous vehicles sector

We are attending to help boost the profile of the UK autonomous vehicles sector, and wider intelligent mobility expertise, on a global stage.

The 2017 event will be the biggest yet, with 15,000 visitors expected from over 50 countries across four busy days of exhibitions, seminars and technology sessions.

Attendees include CEOs, senior decision makers and technologists from companies large and small, Government agencies and the research base.

We will be in good company

We will be alongside some of the UK’s leading autonomous vehicles technology companies at the ITS World Congress in Montreal, Canada, between 29th October and 2nd November, boosting and promoting the UK’s leading expertise in this hugely exciting sector.

We are part of the UK Pavilion at this year’s ITS World Congress, alongside our partners at the Transport Systems Catapult and the Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV), a cross department body from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the Department for Transport

We’ll be posting updates from the event on the Innovate UK and Transport Systems Catapult twitter feed.

Showcasing the UK’s expertise in autonomous vehicles

At the event we will be showcasing the UK’s leading expertise in autonomous vehicles and our world leading eco system for innovation support and promote the UK as an inward investment location. It will be a very busy show for the UK team and colleagues from the Satellite Applications Catapult.

The UK pavilion at the 2017 ITS World Congress will showcase technologies from:

Supporting international innovation collaboration

Our presence at the ITS event is part of our wider ongoing work to support international innovation collaboration, with Canada identified as a major opportunity.

We are currently working with our colleagues in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and Department for International Trade on a range of opportunities to help boost growth and export opportunities.

This international focus is really exciting for us - as we work even harder to support innovation turning in to commercial reality and business growth, right across the UK.

Not to mention the fact that, just last month, Prime Minister Theresa May visited Canada and also spoke about how the UK and Canada can work more closely together in a range of areas, including innovation. Our presence at the ITS event next week is that being put in to direct action.

We will have the chance to highlight some of our recent work with CCAV

Just this month CCAV and BEIS announced the winners of a £50 million competition to develop world leading CAV infrastructure to support the UK’s global offer for CAV development and deployment which Innovate UK delivered on their behalf.

The 4 winning projects will test the speed, safety and potential opportunities for delivering CAV innovation, helping ensure the UK remains world-leading.
