I joined the Transforming Food Production (TFP) team just over a year ago, after spending five enjoyable years with the KTN Agri-food team. I helped many individual companies on their funding journey, but, while I regularly witnessed SMEs winning the funding ‘battle’ by securing a collaborative R&D project, they only had a chance of winning the funding ‘war’ once they secured private investment.
Chris studied Applied Biology at Nottingham Trent specialising in Crop Protection. After developing a range of plant diagnostics whilst working for a then government agency (Fera) he led a commercial spin out to become CEO of Forsite Diagnostics in 2007 after raising £1.5m private investment. In 2012 Forsite was acquired by Abingdon Health, and he held the position of group CTO until the end of 2014.
Chris subsequently joined the Knowledge Transfer Network in 2015 as part of the AgriFood Team leading on the AgriTech Investment Showcase, and left to Join the Transforming Food Production ISCF Challenge team in March 2020 to take the innovation lead role on a new Series A Investor Partnership initiative.
