Dr Ian McKay
Ian joined Innovate in July 2017 as Innovation Lead for Advanced Therapies. This covers a broad range of novel medical treatments involving cell and gene therapy.
He joined Innovate UK from the Department of Health (DH) where he was the policy lead for stem cell transplantation and advanced therapies.
At DH he was part of a high profile policy team with a broad scientific remit that included; rare diseases, genomics and emerging technologies.
Before joining the DH he was a health and science policy adviser for the British Dental Association. He began his career as a lecturer in cell and molecular biology at Queen Mary, University of London. Ian has a PhD in Developmental Biology
